Robert Reynolds’ Art Exhibit Opening – May 23rd from 5:00 – 8:00 PM
Robert Reynolds’s paintings are in many private and public art collections throughout the United States and abroad. Images of his paintings have graced the pages and covers of art magazines most recently featured in the French Magazine, Pratique des Arts. In addition to his own two published art books, his paintings are in 21 other art books including six Splash editions. One of his paintings was featured on the cover of Splash 9: The Best of Watercolor. He is a past winner of the Gold and Bronze Art Awards in the California Discovery Arts Award competition. During his tenure as a professor of art at Cal Poly, Mr. Reynolds received the President Arts Award and the Cal Poly Distinguished Teaching Award. Before joining Cal Poly, Mr. Reynolds graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design, located in Southern California. Mr. Reynolds has had many art commissions – two significant ones were the United States Postal Service commission to create artwork on the postage stamp honoring Hearst Castle, and in 1971, when Howard Mankins, former County Board Supervisor, commissioned him to design the San Luis Obispo County Seal. In 2004, Mr. Reynolds participated in the invitational Biennale Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy. His paintings have been selected for many commemorative posters for the San Luis Obispo. An estuary paintings by Mr. Reynolds was also used on the poster celebrating the National Estuary Program in Morro Bay. Mr. Reynolds is listed in a number of “Who’s Who” books, including Who’s Who in American Art and Who’s Who in America.
Artist Robert Reynolds loves the landscape and lives to paint its changing moods. Robert Reynolds embraces subjects that he finds evocative and meaningful. His ability to celebrate nature’s spirituality is clearly evident in his most recent paintings created for this exhibition, Stillpoints II.
